Camp Nou to celebrate Liga title on Sunday The team will be receiving the championship trophy after the match with Valladolid on a night of many surprises The celebrations of the 22nd Liga title at the Camp Nou, following the game with Valladolid, will be shown live on Barça TV and will also be streamed on www.fcbarcelona.com Live on Barça TV and website The celebrations of the 22nd Liga title at the Camp Nou, following the game with Valladolid, will be shown live on Barça TV and will also be streamed on www.fcbarcelona.com On Sunday night, the Camp Nou will be celebrating Barça’s Liga title. It’ll all be happening after the game with Valladolid (which kicks off at 21.00)). The trophy arrived at the club this Friday ready for presentation to FC Barcelona for the 22nd time. The party gets going at about 23.00, with the president of the Spanish Football Federation presenting the all-important silverware to FC Barcelona captain Carles Puyol. Champions honours The night will continue with a sound and light show that includes a host of different surprises, including highlights on the video scoreboard of the team’s triumphant March to its fourth title in five years. Also, as is only to be expected on a night like this, fans can rest assured that there will also be plenty of music, fireworks and confetti! History repeating Curiously enough, just three years ago, in 2010, Barça also celebrated the Liga title at the Camp Nou with a game against Valladolid, which the home side won handsomely, 4-0. But that was not the last time that the Barça fans were able to celebrate winning the Liga trophy. Last year, in the penultimate and otherwise largely meaningless game against Deportivo, Barça were able to celebrate title number 21. LA LIGA CHAMPIONS

The league trophy is now at the Camp Nou The celebrations of the 22nd Liga title at the Camp Nou, following the game with Valladolid, will be shown live on Barça TV and will also be streamed on www.fcbarcelona.comCamp Nou to celebrate Liga title on Sunday

Barça to play their fifth successive Spanish Super Cup The only other time a side has appeared five times on the run was when Barça were in the Super Cup from 1990 to 1994 Barça have won the trophy more times than any other team – 10 in all – and Leo Messi is the competition’s all time leading scorer with 10 goals – so far! Messi the leading scorer Leo Messi is also a record holder in the competition – his 10 goals in nine games making him the leading goal scorer in the Super Cup’s history. [[DES_1]] As this year’s league champions, Barça will be taking part in next season’s curtain raiser – the Spanish Super Cup - against the winner of Friday’s Spanish Cup Final. It’s the fifth year on the trot that the team have made it through to the game, equalling the record of the 1990-1994 Barça side. Super Cup Kings! The game will see Barça face either Atletico or Real Madrid and give them the chance to win their fourth Spanish Super Cup in five years, having beaten Athletic Bilbao in 2009, Seville in 2010 and Real Madrid in 2011. Last year saw Real Madrid beat them to take their total of titles to nine, one behind leaders Barça with ten. At the start of the 1990s, Johan Cruyff’s team also appeared in the Super Cup on five successive occasions, beating Atletico Madrid in 1991 and 1992 and Zaragoza in 1994, whilst losing in 1990 and 93 to Real Madrid.

FC Barcelona still have records to break in Liga They’ve already claimed their fourth league title, but Tito Vilanova’s side still have challenges ahead of them over the last three games of the season Reaching 100 points and equalling the number of victories in a season are the two main objectives for the team The Champions are still in high spirits and the way they took their latest league title is a clear demonstration of that. There are still things to achieve though and the team are determined to carry on with their winning record. Having put in the best ever first half to a season, with 55 from a possible 57 points – including six straight wins to start the campaign – the side are still after more records.100 points in sightTito Vilanova’s side are currently on 91 points – a spectacular total in itself, but one Barça could stretch to 100 over the next three games to equal Real Madrid’s record setting total from last season. The Club’s best total in a league so far was in the 2009/10 season, when they chalked up 99. If the team can reach that 100 point mark, they will have also enjoyed a record 32 victories, once again equalling Madrid’s best ever mark from last season and made it 14 away wins equalling what appeared to be an unreachable total when Pep Guardiola’s team achieved it in the 2009/10 campaign.107 goals so far The final record that Barça can aim for is the highest number of goals, At the moment it sits at 121, which Madrid managed last season and that looks like a tough total to beat. Barça have 107 so far and with just three games to play, they’ll need to average five a game, however, last season’s 114 – a club record – is certainly within reach. One record the team have already beaten is the number of away goals, having already scored 50 in 18 games to better the 2010/11 total of 19 in 49, and that’s a total that can only increase at the game against Espanyol in a fortnight’s time.

Seven years ago... Frank Rijkaard's Barcelona Wins its Second Champions League in Paris On May 17, 2006, Barça had its name engraved on the Champions League trophy for the second time after overcoming Arsenal 2-1 in ParisMay 17th is an important day for Barça fans. On this day in 2006 the Club conquered their second European Cup in Paris at the Saint Denis Stadium against Arsenal in a game full of suffering and tension that ended in elation. Despite playing with 10 men after keeper Lehmann had been sent off, Arsenal took the lead in the first half, but after the break in the pouring rain, Eto’o and Belletti turned the game around and coached by Frank Rijkaard, the Ronaldinho-led team’s great European run ended in glory. Five three time winners The Barça fans had had a fourteen year wait to celebrate their second European Cup after the famous win at Wembley against Sampdoria, but the third and fourth didn’t take so long, coming in 2009 and 2011. Five of the current squad have lifted the Champions League trophy three times: Valdés, Puyol, Iniesta, Xavi and Messi and they’re bound to be celebrating their first this Friday. FCB HISTORY

Pedro: “The 100 points are a big motivation” FC Barcelona’s forward insisted today that the team have the aim of reaching 100 points very clear in their minds, though they know it won’t be easyBarça have three games to play and nine points at stake, as they aim to round off their title wining season with a 100 point record: “the 100 point record is a motivation for us and an objective we have in mind. We know it will be difficult because the other teams we are playing are still playing for things – but we intend to try”, Pedro affirmed in this lunchtime’s press conference at the Ciutat Esportiva. For Pedro: “the league is the most important title in any season, because it reflects your consistency . I’m very pleased about the league title and the work the team have put in . Personally I would have liked to have given a bit more to the team, but I’m happy with the chances I was given”. [[CITA_1]]Transfer rumours not affecting the players The Spanish forward explained that the team is determined to finish the season on a high and isn’t letting all the transfer rumours affect them: “it’s going to be hard again tomorrow and it’s normal that there is talk of reinforcements. Barça need goals and attacking contributions and that’s why every year the forward line is changed”.As to his own future, Pedro explained: “my intention is to stay here and be a part of this great club. The decision isn’t down to us, but I hope to get back and feel good again and bring more to the team next season”. [[CITA_2]]Neymar – a great player Asked about Neymar’s possible arrival, Pedro replied: “Neymar is a great player. If he comes here it’ll be great for the team because it will make us even stronger. It means there would be more competition up front, but that’s good to keep on learning. I hope he comes! He’ll fit in well here”.   I’m happy about the league and for the work the team have done. On a personal level, I would have liked to have given a little more to the team Looking to the future, Pedro claimed: “Barça need goals and attacking contributions and that’s why every year the forward line is changed

The Best Photos of the latest training session (16/05/2013) ..

34 years ago... Barça Wins its First European Cup Winners’ Cup On May 16 1979, Barça won the Cup Winners’ Cup against Fortuna Düsseldorf (4-3), in an epic match that ran into extra timeAn impressive group of some 30,000 Barcelona supporters accompanied the team to its victory; bringing their Senyeres and blue and claret flags across Europe. The European title victory prompted an unprecedented celebration on the streets of Barcelona and in other Catalan cities. The champions received a sensational homecoming, with two players given an especially ecstatic reception: Johan Neeskens, who was leaving the team, and Migueli, who had played the final with a broken collarbone. Valdés back on training pitch Valdes – still recovering from his foot and calf injuries – was back on the training pitch this morning.Barça continued their preparations for this Sunday’s game at the Camp Nou against Valladolid with a Thursday morning training session. Victor Valdes was a welcome returnee to the session – working out on the pitch as part of his recovery from the foot and calf injuries which have kept him out of the last two league games. Adriano, Abidal and Dani Alves all worked apart, whilst Messi was with the physio and B team keeper Miguel Bañuz joined the rest of the squad .

The top ten Liga photos The returns to action of Villa and Abidal, the support for Tito and Messi’s record are some of the best imagesThere have been all kinds of difficulties en route to FC Barcelona’s 22nd Liga title. Here we look back on an eventful year full of ups and downs in the form of ten particularly poignant images. 1) Villa scores on return In the first game of the league season, against Real Societat (5-1), and after eight months out through injury, the Asturian returned to official duty, and marked the occasion by scoring the fight goal in an emphatic win. 2) Comeback at the Pizjuán Two goals from Cesc and another from Villa in the final seconds turned 2-0 into 2-3 at the Sánchez Pizjuán. After beating Sevilla, Barça made it to six straight wins to start their campaign in perfect fashion. 3) Draw in the first Clásico Game seven was at the Camp Nou, and was the first meeting with Real Madrid in the league. The game ended 2-2, with Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo getting two goals each. 4) Nine goal festival at Riazor The most spectacular game of the season has to Barça’s visit to Riazor in game eight. It ended 4-5, with Barça ending with ten men after Mascherano was red carded. 5) Eleven home-bred players A first half injury to Alves, meaning he was replaced by Montoya, meant that FC Barcelona played with all eleven of their players being products of the club’s own youth system. Historic. 6) Dedicated to Tito The last game of 2012 was on the road at Valladolid. It was the first match without Tito Vilanova, and his replacement Jordi Roura responded brilliantly, leading the team to a 3-1 win. 7) Half way with 55 out of 57 A 3-1 win at La Rosaleda, with some supreme football, meant FC Barcelona set a new record for the first half of a league season: 55 points out of a possible 57. 8) Anoeta: first defeat A week later, in game 20, FC Barcelona lost for the first time in the competition. It came at Real Sociedad, and that was despite FCB taking an early 2-0 lead. Piqué was sent off. 9) Messi, half a season scoring In Vigo, Leo Messi set a new record by going 19 consecutive matches scoring at least once in every game. In that time he notched up an unbeatable tally of 30 goals. 10) Abidal back Frenchman Éric Abidal, who had been out of action for over a year, made his comeback at the Camp Nou on the day that also marked Tito Vilanova’s return to duty. It was like another title for Barcelona fans.
