Keep reading to learn more about the 2025 qualifications and what to expect in the tournament.

How Teams Qualify for Club World Cup

The 32 teams that will compete in the 2025 Club World Cup will be selected from 6 different football federations. Europe’s UEFA will have the most teams after being given 12 slots, followed by South America’s CONMEBOL with 6 slots. Asia’s AFC and Africa’s CAF will have 4 slots each. North America’s CONCACAF will also have 4 slots and an extra 1 slot because of hosting privileges. Finally, Oceania’s OFC will only have 1 slot. All matches will be available on Betway with good betting odds in this eventful tournament that will kick off on 15th June, 2025.

The qualification process takes into account the performance of different teams in different federations over the past four seasons. For example, European teams will be selected based on their performance in the UEFA Champions League. Points are granted right from the group stages.

For teams outside Europe, for every win a team gets 3 points, 1 point for a draw, and 3 points for progressing to the next stage of the competition. However, for European teams, the points system is a bit different and very competitive. For a win, a team gets 2 points, 1 point for a draw, 4 points for qualifying group stages, 5 points for qualifying round of 16, and 1 point for progressing to each stage of the competition after the round of 16.

After Qualification

At the group stages, each team will play each other once, and go straight to the knockout stage for the top two. The winner then proceeds to the round of 16 then to quarters, semis and final.

The tournament does not have a third-place play-off for the two losing teams at the semis. The winning side will be the only team that plays seven games after the month-long competition comes to an end.

Top Teams That Have Qualified

The competitive nature of selecting 32 teams means only the creme de la creme teams in every football federation get to play at the FIFA Club World Cup. Among the top teams to qualify include Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, Seattle Sounders, and Al-Hilal.

There will be 4 seeding pots each with 8 teams. You can see the full list of the confirmed teams on Betway and more game insights from the last tournament. Don’t miss this one, it’s the only one we’ve got until 2029.

Final Thoughts

This is going to be a special FIFA Club World Cup as the tournament transitions to a new schedule. This trend indicates how the event will soon be as big as the World Cup. The football world will get to see top talents teaming up at club and national levels.
