Football-Lineups.com is a collaborative Database where football (soccer)
fans can review and post teams tactics and formations.
In Football, different formations can be used depending on whether you
wish to adopt a more attacking or defensive style of play.
In the modern game, fans, journalists and pundits alike are increasingly aware
of the tactical nuances and formations.
The ever expanding database can lead to a greater understanding of the tactics involved.
The aim of the site is to show the match formation of a team
by providing fan coverage of several leagues. We currently have
more than 750.000 line-ups
and your additions and/or corrections would be always appreciated.
Formations are described as the number of players in each area from the
defensive line (not including the goalkeeper).
For example 4-4-2 describes the formation as having: 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2
forwards. Conventionally the formation can be described with 3 numbers, like before,
or with 4-numbered (e.g. 4-4-1-1).
