Needing just a point to win the trophy Montpellier got it thanks to John Utaka, whose brace overturned an early 1-0 deficit to clinch the victory. Second-place PSG put on all the heat it could muster, also leaving it late but coming out 2-1 winners at Lorient. Bordeaux also had some final-day drama, as its late-season run placed Les Girondins in the final Europa League spot with one game left, but with Sunday s opponent, Saint-Etienne, among three teams vying for the position. After falling behind, a Cheikh Diabate double put Les Girondins up only to see Les Verts equalize. But as he did three years ago when Bordeaux won the title, Yoan Gouffran clinched the game with a late goal. At the other end, eight clubs were fighting relegation on Sunday, with only Auxerre confirmed as going down before the games started.
